Google Cardboard Compatible Phones

Google cardboard is VR headset build from cardboard. This may sound strange but it’s true, while companies like Oculus, Samsung, HTC, etc. are making expensive headsets with premium material, Google taught out-of-the box and introduced this simplest yet effective piece of tech. Google cardboard is piece of cardboard cut in a shape which can be folded and assembled as a complete headset. Google Cardboard is great but as it is built from only cardboard with some lenses, so for functionality it uses the sensors of the phone you pair it with. Google Cardboard compatible phones requires a gyroscope and Android version 4.1+ or iOS version 8.0+.

How to Check if your smartphone supports VR

You don’t need to buy a VR headset to check whether you phone supports VR or not. You can easily check this by going to Google Play Store, search for any VR apps and install it. After installation run the app and you’ll see two screens. Now run any media from the app and move your phone left/right, backward/forward, if the screens also move in such directions then your phone is VR compatible or I am sorry it is not.

or you can easily scroll up and check out the list of Google Cardboard Compatible Phones.

Google Cardboard Required Accessories

Google Cardboard Compatible Phones

  • Google Cardboard box
  • 2x 40mm focal distance lense
  • Velcro, rubber band & magnets
  • Smartphone from the above list

You can purchase these stuff from any supermarket and get the cardboard from official Google store for only 10-15 dollars.

Requirements for using Cardboard:

  • Cardboard on an Android phone requires version 4.1 or higher.
  • Cardboard on an iOS requires version 8.0 or higher.
  • Smartphone with gyroscope sensor

Google cardboard is compatible with most phones out there having these basic requirements, after having these requirements if your phone shows incompatibility then your phone is either too big for it or too small, size matters too.
